Mountain Rest Cafe is sad to announce after 21 years of serving amazing hamburgers and Sunday lunches to the Mountain Rest, SC community, we have closed our doors. Kim says, “she simply can’t keep going, it has become too hard to find employees to help her and she ain’t getting any younger.” This would be a great restaurant for a mom and pop working together or a family who wants to run a restaurant. This is the only restaurant in Mountain Rest and had a regular clientele of locals and travelers taking in the local beautiful hikes.

We will miss serving our customers and friends who have visited us for so many years.

3 Reasons to Try the Mountain Burger This Week at Mtn Rest Cafe

For years locals have raved about the Mountain Rest Cafe’s mountain burger! We thought we would share with you three reasons why that might be:

  1. Eight ounces of USA fresh ground chuck, grilled to perfection ( if that is too big we also have 4oz burgers, want bigger? go for the 12oz)
  2. Topped with Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions and of course cheese if you want it.
  3. Held together by a nice fresh hamburger bun.

What else do you need to know?   Add some of Kim’s famous onion rings or french fries and cole slaw and yum!!!! My mouth is watering.

You might also want to try the Mountain Burger smothered in mushrooms.

MRC Scoops – An Ice Cream Parlor has opened next to Mtn Rest Cafe!

Looking for a cool treat on a hot day or some place to celebrate a special occasion with the kids? Mountain Rest Cafe has opened an ice cream parlor right next to their restaurant. It is open Thursday thru Sunday the same hours as the cafe.

We have both Byers and Blue Bunny brands. Check out the delicous flavors you have to choose from. Vanilla, butter pecan, chocolate, strawberry, black cherry, butter pecan, rainbow sherbert, mint chocolate chip, cookies & cream, and peach.  There are two no sugar options and five gluten free.

So what’s stopping you,  you know your want some!!! How about a banana split?

If you have never been to our cafe, make sure you stop in for lunch or dinner soon and then   visit the MRC Scoops for dessert!

There is only one Mountain Rest Cafe Now Located Next to Dollar General

Over a year ago, the Mountain Rest Cafe moved to it’s new location by the Dollar General store right at the junction of Hwy 107 and Hwy 28.  So if you head further up the mountain without eating you will be missing the best country cooking in Mtn Rest!!  Come in and sample the delicious food made fresh for you by Kim Wald and her wonderful team!   You will want to stop in for a Mountain burger or some hot fried chicken. Give mom a break and Sunday, after church, stop in for family Sunday supper. The address is 7057 Highlands HWY.  So stop on by soon! The restaurant is open Thursday through Sunday and is conveniently located to all of Oconee County’s favorite hikes with beautiful trails and waterfalls.  When you head back from your favorite hike stop in for a snack and a sweet tea. You will be glad you did!

Mountain Rest Cafe has a Brand New Location!

We are excited to announce the new location for the Mountain Rest Cafe.   The cafe originally opened over 11 years ago by the Mountain Rest post office. It’s new location is right next to the Dollar General at the junction of Hwy 107 and Hwy 28 at 7057 Highlands HWY

The cafe has a reputation for excellent country cooking by Kim Wald and her staff. You will want to stop in for a Mountain burger or some hot fried chicken.  On Sunday, after church, stop in for Sunday supper.

The new location has room to grow for private events and will even have a gift shop.

The restaurant is open Thursday through Sunday and is conveniently located to all of Oconee County’s favorite hikes with beautiful trails and waterfalls.
